Krotona Clay & Arts

The Krotona Institute of Theosophy, in collaboration with experienced local artists, seeks to create a vibrant community art space in Ojai.

Housed in the old braille library building on Krotona’s grounds, KCA is envisioned as a space where community members, visitors, youth, and elders can engage in art making together.

We are deeply honored to transform this building that was once dedicated to bringing the light of literature to the blind. By cultivating a calm environment rooted in harmony, intention, and presence, we invite our community to share in the sacredness of the creative process.

A Return to Center

Krotona is inspired by a vision of the profound interconnectedness of all life, and is dedicated to uplifting consciousness for the betterment of humanity. Krotona Clay & Arts has been conceived in alignment with this vision, offering a contemplative sanctuary for creativity and connection.

We believe that in today’s busy and disconnected world, making art in community can be a powerful antidote to help us return to center.

A Place to Create

KCA will offer regular classes, special workshops, and open workshop time in a variety of mediums.

  • Our ceramics workshop will facilitate hand building and wheel throwing. We will mix glazes and fire pottery on site.
  • Our fine arts room & gallery will offer painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. This well lit room will display the work of our students, teachers, and resident artists.
  • A dedicated room will be reserved for special workshops, such as jewelry making, stained glass, fiber & textile arts, basket weaving, additional clay techniques, and more.

A Place for Community

As Ojai’s long tradition of spiritual and creative exploration continues to unfold, Krotona is honored to open this vibrant new chapter.

Krotona Clay and Arts aspires to be a place where our local community can gather, create, and connect deeply – where art is not just taught as a technique, but experienced as a meaningful practice that nourishes the spirit.

By integrating youth programming, affordable rates, apprenticeship programs, and a scholarship fund, we are committed to ensuring KCA will be available to people of all resource levels.

A Place for Generosity

Bringing this sanctuary to life requires a collective effort. We have a building to renovate and beautify, equipment to install, and several rooms to outfit. We have a clear path ahead—and a team ready to do the work.

As a non-profit community initiative, our doors will open through the generosity of people like you. Every contribution directly restores this cultural landmark and establishes a cultural oasis for the Ojai Valley.
